Important-Urgent

John was making and organizing his to-do list. I decided to use the old Covey method to help him. The 2x2 of important/not important, urgent/not urgent. 8 were in the important-urgent square, 1 was in the important-not urgent square. Hmm. Not so balanced here, I think.

He was so helpful, and just colored in the 2x2 for me. The things I do are either important-urgent, or not-important-not-urgent. :) Like decorating our blog...not-important-not-urgent. I'm not certain where cleaning, cooking, preparing, transporting, and such fall. Those are things that always can be done and should at some point, but dishes have more of a gray area between important and not, and urgent and not. I think my life sort of falls in a box around the intersection of the 2x2.

I think that all chores are important-not urgent. Unless you have to get ready for a house party or something... then it's urgent! :)

Are you guys going to be in Wisconsin for Christmas this year?

We've been running out of clean clothes and laundry lately (I've been sick-ish). So I think that those are more urgent from a lack of supply than they usually are. :)

Christmas... To make a long story short, we're planning on staying here this year.

Oh, I remember when you sat down with me freshman year and helped me prioritize everything I had to get done - I was pretty stressed out. It was in list format, not box, though there may have been some color coding. Definitely dates and amount of time to complete each one. I used that for years. So reading your post made me smile!

I agree that most chores are important-not urgent. Until I put them off for too long....

I love the new "decoration" on your blog! I'm sure I spend too much time on things that are not important and not urgent. *sheepish face.* I need to get better at that! :)
